Offhand items are items that can be equipped in a player's offhand slot, such as shields, spell focuses, and sigils.[1]
- Only one-handed weapons may be equipped when the offhand slot is in use.[1]
- Previously, shields were equipped in a back slot.[2][3]
- Dual wielded weapons occupy both main and offhand gear slots.[4][5]

Offhand cosmetics
Shields
Shields are a type of weapon in Ashes of Creation.[7]
- Shields in the MMORPG grant a static defense/damage mitigation value.[8]
- Shields may also offer additional value/block chances on a directional basis.[8]
- Shields cannot be dual wielded.[9][10]
