Arenen sind instanzierte PvP-Szenarien und somit kein Teil des Open World PvPs.[2]

PvP seasons

Performance in various PvP systems (such as Karawanen, Arenas, Gildenkriege) is measured over the course of 6 month PvP seasons. At the end of each season, a player's cumulative score may unlock various rewards.[10][11]

Gear enhancement rewards

Ausrüstungsverbesserungen (Kraftsteine/Runen) können an Waffen angebracht werden, um der Waffe Elementar- oder Energieschaden zu verleihen.[12][13]

We are very likely going to have a rune system and then we'll have the ability to sort of enchant weapons outside of that too... That's not always going to be like a vertical progression... It's not as though you're going to necessarily acquire these once and then you're set for your PvP enchantments, but instead you'll have to continually perform month after month in order to keep having those slotted enchantments.[14]Steven Sharif

Metriken

Ashes of Creation gathers tracking data to facilitate achievements, titles and other accolades on a server.[15]

Visibility of those types of things on the server help to promote a competitive atmosphere. If there is an attainable impression that you can work towards, so that others know your success, you have more drive to succeed.[15]Steven Sharif

Guild ladder

An inter-guild ladder will rank guilds based on their performance within competitive activities:[16][17]

When the guild participates in guild wars or they participate in sieges, you'll be able to climb the ranks of your inter-guild ladder as well so you get bragging rights amongst your friends.[17]Steven Sharif

There will be dungeon and raid leader boards.[18]

Military node arena

Bürgermeister of military nodes are chosen from citizens through last man standing (gladiatorial arena style) combat.[20][7][6]

  • An idea currently under consideration is to have players build out a champion that they can then fight in the arena, rather then using their regular characters. These champions can be equipped with gear and skills via quests, along with materials and gold to make the champion stronger.[21]
  • The reason for the champion idea is because the game isn't balanced for 1v1 PvP. Utilizing champions makes arena combat more of a level playing ground.[21]
  • Arena style combat is instanced but spectators may be possible through an interface.[9]
  • The winner of the combat can not transfer the mayoralty to another player.[22]

Server vs server

The arena system may support cross-server combat.[8]

  • There may be monthly competitions where the winning server and winning team receive beneficial buffs for the month.[23]

When you're talking about Arena play especially, one server might not be able to support that depending on what's going on with it, but across all the servers then we've got a really great pool for matchmaking.[24]Jeffrey Bard

E-Sports

eSports is not the main focus, but the game will naturally move in that direction if the game play is compelling, competitive and fun.[25]

Gruppengrößen

The minimum goal is 500 players on a single battlefield. I think we will be able to hit 500vs500 but we shall see.[26]Steven Sharif

Ashes of Creation is designed for solo players as well as large and small groups.[27][28]

  • Gruppen have up to eight (8) players in a single group.[29]
  • Schlachtzüge will have 40 man groups.[30]
  • Content will be tailored for 40, 16 and 8 person group sizes.[31]
  • Arenas will have 1 man, 3 man, 5 man and possibly 20 man Free-For-All (Deathmatch) group sizes.[3]
    • There won't specifically be guild vs guild arenas but team-based matchmaking allows teams to face other teams.[4]
  • Castle sieges are expected to have at minimum 250x250 players to be on a single battlefield, with the possibility of increasing this to 500x500 over time.[26]

The idea behind an 8-person group is to allow us to really amplify party roles, and to create a need for each of the archetypes in every party.[29]

Content isn't locked behind guilds.[32]

  • Mechanics exist within larger conflicts for small groups and even solo players to impact the battle.[33]
  • This includes systems that will likely focus on single group sized participants while the larger battle is occurring.[33]
